A field of spring "raps" in Walldorf, Germany, near the Frankfurt International Airport. Called "raps" by the Germans and "rapeseed" by the English, the bright yellow flowers decorate the early spring landscapes of Europe bringing welcome color following the dreary northern European winters. Raps are grown commercially throughout Germany and much of Europe. The seeds are used to produce a vegetable oil that has many commercial uses. Canola oil is also produced from the seeds.
