Description:
A trucks-only traffic jam extends as far as the eye can see on Autobahn 3 beside the Frankfurt, Germany, International Airport. The logjam was caused by a truck accident at a road construction site. Trucks-only traffic jams occur occasionally when cars are able to work their way through to the road shoulder and by-pass the trucks. Then, over time, the trucks condense together forming long stretches of trucks-only traffic jams. Traffic jams (called a "stau" in German) are becoming increasingly prevalent, with some (notably during vacation travel times) reaching as much as 100-150 km in length and lasting as long as two or three days.
